Take Off & Learn: Education Involvement
Take Off & Learn is BAA's new dedicated education website. BAA has a long tradition of community and education involvement in the areas in which it operates. On this website you can download FREE interactive learning programmes, access facts and figures about our airports and find out about our programmes to help young people in the communities around our airports develop key skills to support their personal development and future employability.
Through our two new FREE educational computer programmes - Jumbo & Jet and DataPort, we are pleased to be supporting interactive learning in primary and secondary schools. The Jumbo & Jet programme is based on BAA's The Big Blue Case big book developed to support the National Literacy Strategy at Key Stage 1, which has been used successfully in primary schools in education authorities adjacent to BAA's three major airports: Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted.
DataPort is a multimedia resource supporting GCSE ICT, focusing on the design and function of databases. Students explore an exciting virtual airport environment, accessing information about the extensive application of ICT in the smooth running of an airport and the commitment to safeguarding passenger security and comfort.
These two programmes have been produced by BAA with educational multimedia specialists, and developed with teachers and pupils. They have been designed to be used in classrooms with an interactive whiteboard.
